Eco-Meditation - Learning from Nature

Learning from Nature
rev dr m j joseph, devalokam

“Ask the animals, and they will teach you;
the birds of the air, and they will tell you;
ask the plants of the earth, and they will teach you;
 and the fish of the sea will declare to you…
In his hand is the life of e every living thing and the breath of every human being”(Job.12:7,8,10).

Am I not the crown  and glory of creation?
Have I not named the rest of creation?
Have I not been given the power to subdue all around?
Why should the Creator ask me to learn from the lesser creation?
What do they have to teach me?
The dumb beast? The errand bird? The  destined tree for fire? The aimless fish?

I heard a voice from above?

O Man! You  are part of the web of life
Your  very existence is integral to the whole of creation.

Animals! They are free to move on this planet
Are you free to move beyond the boundary of your country?
Are you able to communicate in silence?

Birds! They neither sow nor spin
They are not anxious about the morrow
Will you live in faith and move in faith?

Plants and trees!They grow  at their will
They live in silence
They give you shade,yet you cut them down.
Fish! The whole sea is their home
They do not build their shelter
Hey are not afraid of Tsunami.

O Animals! O Birds! O Plants and Trees! O Fish!
Teach me the ABC of humility!
Help me to know that the soul of every living thing is in His hand
And  the breath of all humankind!
Help my mind to taste truth when I hear it,
And to know that truth and power belong to Him.

Again I heard a Divine Voice from the mouth of Job:
Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth?
Have you commanded the morning since your days began?
And caused the dawn to know its place?

Can you lift up your voice to the clouds?
Have you comprehended the expanse of the earth?
Declare, if you know all thing!

The Divine Voice I heard from the Clouds:

You belong to the web of life
The  beasts make your life better ,not bitter
The birds of the air teach you the freedom of living
The fish of the sea come and go without your knowledge.

Remember, you are standing on the vast sea of life
And gaze at the Seen and  the Unseen in my creation.
