Easter 2009 Newsletter
Dear Ecumenical Friends,
We once again, reach you through this Newsletter informing the happenings of the Council.
Easter arrived this year at a crucial period of Indian History. India has started with its General Elections. A billion voters cast their votes for the leadership of the country for the next 5 years. Parties are entering into alliances; politicians are jockeying and dancing for positions; there is a merry mix-up of happenings, which are both worrisome and at times even hilarious. Will the General Elections herald a brighter future for the people of India? Will the real issues of the country as poverty, illiteracy and unemployment; respect for individuals of all castes and languages; tolerance and acceptance of people of all faiths; will these be addressed? Or will they be further aggravated?
In this hedonistic world, every reason has been reduced to a materialistic parody of itself; we may not have power or money or influence but Christ's Resurrection envelops all the emptiness to the loving presence of God, Love which gives us the power in our weakness. It gives meaning to the Cross.
Let us continue to live our lives in the glorious light of Easter.
Wishing you a blessed Eastertide.
