• National Council of Churches in India(NCCI) condemned the killing of Swami Laxmananda Saraswati and four associates.
• A delegation  of  NCCI,  Catholic  Bishops Conference of India (CBCI) and Evangelical Fellowship  of  India(EFI)  through  National United  Christian  Forum (NUCF)  apprised Union Home Minister, Government of India, New Delhi for immediate intervention.
• Letters were sent to Hon _ble Prime Minister, President  of  India,  Chief  Minister  and Governor of Orissa and Chairman of National Minorities Commission, Chairman of National Commission for Scheduled Caste /Scheduled Tribe.
• The President of Utkal Christian Council filed a writ petition to the National Human Rights Commission, New Delhi
  Pastoral letters were sent to Bishops and Church leaders in Orissa.
• Appeal to close all schools on 29th August to express  solidarity with victims.
• NCCI calls for a day of Prayer and Fasting on 7th Sept 2008.
• A documentation on atrocities in Orissa is initiated in partnership with United Evangelical Lutheran Church in India.
• An  Appeal  is  sent  to  all  Churches,organisation  and  to  all  NCCI  constituent members to extend all possible help for the victims,  which  NCCI  shall  coordinate  with Utkal Christian Council.
• A proposed visit of the President, General Secretary and Secretaries of NCCI is planned.
