A Memorandum on the recent brutal attacks on the North East Indians in Delhi and other cities in India submitted to the Chairperson, National Minorities Commission, Government of India
The National Council of Churches in India (NCCI) the only apex body representing 30 Indian Protestant and Orthodox Churches in India, 17 Regional Councils, 7 Related Agencies, 17 All India Christian Organisations, expresses unequivocally the sentiments of 13 million Christians in India, condemning all the recent attacks against the North East Indians in Delhi and other Cities in India. The increasing atrocities against the minority communities show the deterioration in the matrix of the multi-cultural, lingual and religious heritage of India.
It has been reported through different media that NE people have been attacked and humiliated in different manner-such as rape, killing, physical and mental assaults in the recent past.
Therefore the NCCI Demands the following; 1. Provide Security to all NE people who study and work in Delhi 2. Genuine compensation to be provided to the victims. 3. Miscreants should be taken to task.
The above Memorandum was submitted in Delhi on the 04th March 2010.
