World Day of Prayer 2013
World Day of Prayer is an international, ecumenical, prayer movement initiated and carried out by Christian women in more than 180 countries and over 1000 languages. Every year Christians of many traditions and all ages, celebrate a common day of prayer on the first Friday in March. Through World Day of Prayer, women affirm that prayer and action are inseparable and that both have immeasurable influence in the world.
God invites us to have a prayer relationship with Himself, but He also expects us to have concerned relationships with our neighbours, throughout the world. Prayer must be accompanied by action, as God moves our hearts and directs our thoughts.
The World Day of Prayer for 2013 falls on Friday,1st March, which is on the theme “I was a Stranger and You Welcomed Me" based on the Gospel text of Matthew 25 and the worship liturgy (download here) for the year 2013 has been prepared by the sisters in France. May the Good Lord help us all as we participate in this Global Ecumenical Movement of Informed Prayer and Prayerful Action. As we observe this day let us affirm our faith in Jesus Christ and share our hopes and fears, joys and sorrows and our opportunities and needs.
